Faisal explained that the operation targeted street vendors along Jalan Baru and Jalan Tengku Nyak Arief, where 33 illegal stalls, most of which were used to sell secondhand goods, were cleared. Around 75 joint personnel were deployed to ensure the operation ran smoothly.
"The operation involved personnel from Satpol PP, TNI, Police, Transportation Agency, Public Infrastructure and Facilities Handling (PPSU), and other relevant agencies," he added.
Faisal noted that all equipment and goods belonging to the vendors that were removed during the operation were immediately taken to the South Jakarta Satpol PP's warehouse for further documentation.
He hoped the operation would not only provide a sense of safety and comfort for road and public facility users, but also serve as a lesson for vendors to prevent them from violating regulations again.
"Hopefully our efforts will not only provide a sense of safety and comfort for road and public facility users, but also deter vendors from violating the regulations," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, local resident Fauzi praised the joint personnel's efforts to restore public facilities, including sidewalks, to their proper function.
"We hope officers will continue to regularly patrol the area to prevent illegal vendors from occupying the sidewalks again," he said.
